On 3 February 2018 ECPYouth organises an event for Christian young professionals that would like to go for a career in advocacy or politics. The event is aimed at equipping and training. It will give you practical tools being active in the political sphere as a Christian politician or lobbyist. The ‘ECPYoung Professionals’-concept is developed by ECPYouth – European Christian Political Youth and the first event organised by ECPYouth specifically aimed at this group of people.

The event consists of two parts. The first session is about advocacy. Roxana Stanciu, Executive Director of European Dignity Watch will talk about advocating Christian values in society. There are growing concerns with regards to democracy and transparency in Europe. Freedom is increasingly restricted in Europe through the so-called “hate speech laws”. We see a widespread breakdown of the family that calls for a serious effort for healthier policies in this area. Also, ever-growing eugenic practises threaten to annul the principle of our legal order: equality for every human being. So why should we be active in making a difference in public life? What should be our motivation? We will find answers to these questions together, in an interactive workshop. Roelof Bisschop, MP for the Reformed Political Party (SGP) will speak about how to defend Christian values in a secular political sphere. How do Christian values conflict with current day politics? What should be the attitude of a Christian politician debating the secular worldview? What pitfalls are there? This session will also provide some case studies.
Roxana Stanciu is the Executive Director of European Dignity Watch (EDW), an organisation based in Brussels that informs and educates leaders in Europe in order to make a difference in public life. She is in charge of EDW’s strategy and programmes, and monitors the potential impacts of EU developments on fundamental freedoms, family, and life issues. Roxana was born in Romania and has a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and a Master’s degree in Human Resources Psychology. Before joining EDW, she worked in advocacy, media, and training, and managed various projects both in Romania and at the international level.
Roelof Bisschop MP is a Dutch historian and politician. As a member of the Reformed Political Party he has been an MP since September 2012. Previously he worked as a history teacher and as a director of a secondary school. He was a member of the municipal council of Veenendaal (nearby Utrecht) from 1986 to 2007 and a member of the Utrecht States-Provincial from 2003 to 2011. He is an important opinion leader within the Reformed community in the Netherlands
We invite all Christian young professionals from both EU and non-EU countries to join. This event is especially focussed on those friends of ECPYouth who are really (willing to) making their first steps politics. Participation is free. After the event you can go with us for a dinner.
The event for ECPYoung Professionals will take place at ‘Het Nutshuis’, Riviervismarkt 5, 2513 AM, The Hague.
