Right after the Brexit, most people had their minds on a collapsing European Union. Some were afraid this was the beginning of the end. As young Europeans we are still worried for the future stability of the union the we have to help protect. In several other European countries, we hear talk of EU-exits. One of them: France.
“A poll by the Pew Research Center in June 2016, before the United Kingdom European Union membership referendum, 2016, found France to have a 61% unfavorable view of the EU, second only to Greece’s 71%, with the United Kingdom on 48%.”
‘Resign from this nightmare’, says Marine le Pen, leader of the right-wing French party the National Front (FN). She and others are pushing towards a Frexit which they’d like to see rather sooner then later. ECPYouth and PCD dare you to think about this for a moment and to ask yourself the question: ‘what if?’.
ECPYouth and PCD want to invite you to the first Regional Conference of 2017 and think about and debate on the Frexit. What if the EU loses France? What if others follow? Can we do something to help prevent this? How can we as youth preserve the future of the EU? These questions will be answered and debated by several speakers and experts during this 1-day conference.
The program starts on Friday-evening with a light meal and an activity to get to know each other. On Saturday we will organize several seminars and workshops on France and the European Union. Saturday-evening, we will have dinner and end the program late in the evening. There will be a lot of time to build friendships, have discussions and to make plans for future activities.
