And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace. (Jeremiah 29:4-7)
At its last meeting in Brussels, the ECPYouth Board elected a new President and divided the other positions in the Board. It also discussed the main goals for the coming period. In the working year 2016-2017, ECPYouth will focus on developing a new long-term vision, building stronger relations, increasing its impact and visibility, and maintaining and improving the quality of the organisation.
Erik-Jan Hakvoort (the Netherlands) has been elected as the ECPYouth President. During his Board-membership at PerspectieF, Erik-Jan has developed a strong understanding about politics, political organisations, and leadership – this will make him an excellent President of ECPYouth. Inna Panchuk (Ukraine) has again been elected as Vice-President. She also will be responsible for internal and external Relations. Regarding the other positions, Lizzie Francis (UK) was chosen as Secretary, Dimitri Bluashvili (Georgia) as Board Member for Events, Gabriela Urbanova (Slovakia) as Political Secretary, and Ardjan Boersma (the Netherlands) as Board Member for Strategy. Ardjan’s position was specifically created to implement the Report of the 2020 Strategy Commission.
ECPYouth President Erik-Jan Hakvoort says:
‘The Board is excited to move the organisation to the next level. We have so many fresh new ideas to strengthen and extend the network of ECPYouth and to increase our impact on the EU and on Christian youth in Europe. As a Board, it’s our goal to bring people together, commit ourselves to building relations among them and developing better fundaments for peace within our cities and countries like God askes of us in Jeremiah.’
The next event organised by ECPYouth will take place in Tbilisi, Georgia, on September 29th – October 2nd. This Regional Conference entitled From Inspiration to Impact will be co-hosted by Young Christian Democrats, the Georgian Member Organisation of ECPYouth.
