Valeriu Ghileţchi
Valeriu Ghilețchi is the President of the European Christian Political Movement, the only European party explicitly promoting Christian values in politics. This is his first mandate (2021-present).
He served as member of the Moldovan Parliament twice (1998-2001; 2009 – 2019) and was Deputy Speaker for the last two years of the second period. During the same period, he was a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), and vice-president of PACE from 2017-2018. While at PACE, he was the chair of the Committee of Social Affairs, Health and Sustainable Development. Currently he serves as the assistant to the vice-chair of the Committee of Foreign Affairs & European Integration in the Parliament of Moldova.
Mr. Ghilețchi is an electronic engineer by trade and holds also a Bachelor of Divinity in Theology. He is a pastor and former president of the European Baptist Federation. He is married, has 3 children and 7 grandchildren. Valeriu Ghilețchi has dual Romanian- Moldovan citizenship and is fluent in Romanian, English and Russian.
